A wonderful pair of mid 18th century reverse engravings on glass of "The Prodigal Son". There is full set of twelve in The British Museum" and these two show "In misery" when he was reduced to feeding pigs as employment and the other is "Returns Reclaim'd" when he returned to his family. They are inscribed "Le Clare pinxit; London printed for Henry Parker Printseller opposite Birchin Lane, Cornil, and Robert Sayer, Printseller near Serjeants Inn, Fleet Street: R.Purcel fecit. 18 1/2 inches x 14 inches across their original Hogarth Frames.
