A mid 17th century oil on board portrait thought to be Princess Mary of Orange. She was the eldest daughter of Charles I and moved to the Dutch Republic in 1642 after her marriage to Willem II. She was the mother of William III of England and died in 1660 shortly after returning to England following the Restoration. There is a portrait of her wearing a similar dress and jewels in The Ashdown House Collection. Attributed to the circle of Adriaen Hanneman (1604-1671). The portrait measures 22 inches x 18 inches across the fine 18th century giltwood frame and 16inches x 13 1/2 inches across the board.
