Dating from the last decade of the 17th century, this small oak settle has a triple fielded panel back, a crest rail deeply carved with leaf decoration with a central scallop shell and this design is repeated on the front stretchers. Originally with a rope seat. The style of carving and pyramid finials suggest that it was constructed in the North Cheshire/South Lancashire area. Superb colour and patination. 54 inches wide x 43 inches high.
