Probably dating to about 1790, this wonderful chair must have been extremely well cherished during its life as it is in such superb condition despite the delicacy of its splats which are intricately fretted in the Chinese Chippendale style. It has a drop in seat and X shape turned stretchers. It stands on four turned legs with their original toes. The colour and patination are superb and the colour suggests that the timber is probably pearwood. 43 inches high and it is 32 inches wide on the arms.
