An early Georgian oak mule chest with the very rare feature of having the full name and date of the original owner. It has a fine quality floral carved rail which reads 1731 ROBERT CARRINGTON. Robert Carrington lived at Bugsworth Hall in Derbyshire (its name was changed to Buxworth Hall in the 19th century) and the chest remained in the house until recently. Below the carved rail it has four fielded panels and two drawers at the base. Excellent untouched condition apart from the replaced handles on the drawers. Lovely rich red colour typical of Derbyshire. 56 inches wide x 24 inches deep x 30.5 inches high.
