A large chest front with fine deep carving including a pair of panels showing winged angels with wonderful curly hair below a rail carved with demi-lune rosettes and guilloche enclosing rosettes on the panels below above dentil carving to the bottom rail. All the carving is of excellent quality. On the central muntin it bears the scratched carved date 1659 but this is clearly added later. Probably French mid 16th century It could be used as a bed head or an over mantel. It measures 48 inches wide x 37 inches high.
