Probably Welsh and dating from the second half on the 16th century this table has a cleated end lift off three plank top that is just under two inches thick and a framed base with channel moulded rails incorporating spandrels carved from the solid. The chamfered legs have the type of stop chamfers often seen in architectural woodwork of the period (see Chinnery page 183 for a similar example). The table has wonderful colour and patination and apart from a repair from one foot is in excellent untouched condition. 73 1/2 inches long x 26 1/2 inches wide x 31 1/2 inches high.
