An extremely rare late 17th/early 18th century oak box, the moulded edge lid held by its original hinges and standing on small bun feet. It is profusely decorated with straw work with various designs including strange creatures and a bird. This is the earliest example of this type of work that I have seen and is in wonderful unrestored condition. 9 1/2 inches square x 6 inches high
