Circa 1500, this very moving carved limewood figure of Christ on the Cold Stone shows him with long flowing hair and inclined head, bound and wearing a crown of thorns. In lovely condition it retains a considerable amount of its original polychrome decoration. It is probably from Bohemia and the treatment of the cloak and rocks is similar to the folds in shown late 15th century carvings and paintings of the area. It stands 19 1/2 inches high x 12 inches wide.
