Of fine quality, this lovely little oil on canvas shows a young boy dressed in the typical style of early 19th century children. He has a very sweet face and proudly holds a cricket bat and ball. The brushwork is of excellent quality and the giltwood frame is probably original. On the frame is the pencilled date 1832 and some other faint writing that I cannot read. It would be fascinating to discover who he is and clearly he comes from a wealthy family. It measures 15 1/2 inches x 13 inches.
