A very interesting George II walnut armchair with some unusual features. It has a shaped crest rail, rectangular splat and swept arms. The cabriole legs have leaf carved knees and terminate with "Spanish" front feet. It has a drop in seat. Made of Virginian walnut with excellent figuring to the timber, it is possible that it is from America, perhaps Boston. Circa 1740. 41 inches high overall and 18 inches seat height.
