A large and very pair of 13th/14th century English stone gargoyles. Probably used as corbels, they have long hair and grotesque faces and such pieces were intended to ward off evil spirits. One appears to have four eyes and holds a dagger whilst the other has deep set eyes, prominent teeth and curled hands. They have been in a private collection for a long time and are by repute from Lincoln. They both measure about 17 inches wide.
