A rare Georgian creamware Staffordshire jug.

A Georgian creamware jug decorated with a rural scene and bearing the inscription Jeremiah Grinder 1786. The base bears a 19th century label which reads "This jug is very rare. J.G was land agent to the 2nd Earl Talbot of Ingestre Hall. He died in 1845 in 1847 a stained glass window was placed in Sandon Church as a memorial & in respect in which he was held. William Jb Bowers." Ginder is recorded in parish records as living at Little Ingestre. The jug was probably made not far from the Lord Talbot's estate. It stands 8 1/2 inches high and is in excellent condition.
