I am selling this fine clock on the behalf of a retired clock dealer and he will provide the guarantee on it, deliver it and set it up. The clock dates to about 1690-1695 and the maker is Christopher Gould of London who was an eminent maker and is listed in "The Early Clockmakers of Great Britain" by Brian Loomes where he is described as "a great clockmaker". The clock has an 8-day 5- pillar movement with outside locking-plate strike. The 11 inch dial is engraved with a rosette to the centre and engravings between the spandrels. Signed on the dial "Chr Gould Londini Fecit".The narrow walnut case has outstanding colour and patina, convex hood support mouldings, barley twist columns to the hood and a glass lenticle to the case. It stands 85 inches high and the case is just 10 inches wide.
