This wonderful work of art, which depicts Adam and Eve in The Garden of Eden, has been fashioned from a piece of parchment which has been cut with a very fine scalpel. Adam and Eve are depicted naked with their pudenda on show, as it is before they have eaten the apple. They are surrounded by an extraordinary array of birds, animals and fish including a toucan, a turkey, a strange looking camel, a unicorn and a whale. Above on the right can be seen an angel with a book and a flaming sword, ready to drive them from The Garden of Eden. Around the picture their is an inscription in Latin which roughly translates "Fear God Boy Child. God hears and sees us. God created the world and gave it paradise. Anno 1711." It is in remarkably good condition and measures 14 inches x 11 inches cross the walnut frame and 11 inches x 8 inches across the parchment.
