A pair of large 17th century oak panels, dated 1670, representing Faith and Charity, two of the three theological virtues, the third being Hope. The slightly crude treatment of the figures suggests that they are English. The figure on the left shows Faith, she is shown holding a cross and an open book. the panel measures 17 1/2 inches x 13 1/2 inches. The other shows Charity and she is shown holding an infant (albeit rather a large one!) to her breast and measures 16 inches x 14 inches. In the background can be seen grand looking buildings and the decorative details at the base hidden show faces.
