Not the largest of beds, but in lovely untouched condition with excellent colour, this so called "four post bed" is virtually in the condition that it was made in the mid 17th century apart from having a sprung mattress on boards rather than a straw mattress on rope. The holes for the rope can be seen on the head and foot boards and the unusually deep side rails. The posts are particularly well turned and the headboard has fine quality deep carving. The bed comes with the crewelwork valance and bedcover that were made for it a few years ago. 73 inches lone x 52 inches wide x 73 inches high. Mattress size 69 inches long x 48 inches wide.
