This very interesting panel depicts The Marriage at Cana, the occasion on which Jesus performs the famous miracle of turning water into wine. The panel probably represents a particular marriage with the two large figures on either side showing the man on the left with a goose on his shield symbolising providence and vigilance, whilst the woman has a heart on her shield to indicate loyalty. On the panel itself the bride and groom can be seen seated whilst Jesus is in the foreground pointing to the six stone jars whilst the figure on the left is the master of ceremonies sampling the wine which has been transformed from water to wine of an excellent quality. 25 inches high x 25.75 inches wide.
