Measuring just over two feet wide, this little chest dates from the middle of the 17th century and has a cleated end boarded top with channel moulding and somewhat unusually a band of chip carving. This chip carving is repeated on the rails and muntins which enclose the two panels on the front. These two panels have lozenge shaped carving which is of excellent quality and is of the type that is normally found in Wiltshire or Gloucestershire. The sides and back are also panelled. 27 1/2 inches wide x 16 1/2 inches deep x 18 inches high.
