Whether this egg shaped fine quality silver case was for ecclesiastical purposes or as a secular travelling piece, it is hard to say. The case comes in two parts and inside are two screw thread stems. Judging from the decoration it dates from the end of the 18th century. The chalices stand 4 inches high.
