AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY OAK BOX STOOL.
Although of typical form for an early 18th century oak close stool, this example is unusual as it stands on its original Spanish feet. The handles are later but the escutcheon and catch are original. It has had a tin liner made for for it at a later date which could prove useful if one wanted to use it for coal or as a cellarette. Very useful beside a sofa or armchair. It has excellent colour and patination. 18 inches wide x 15 inches deep x 19 1/2 inches high.
