This charming little capuchine or coffee cup dates from the first decade of the 18th century and is almost certainly from the London delft factory based in Vauxhall. It is of typical flared form with a looped blue dash handle and is decorated with blue red and green panels depicting flowers separated by small delicately painted lattice work panels. It is in wonderful unrestored condition and despite the fact that such pieces must have been made in large quantities for the fashionable coffee houses of London, it is surprising such a delicate piece has survived untouched. It measures just over 2 1/2 inches high and is 2 1/2 inches in diameter across the flared lip.
