Dating from the first decade of the 17th century, this boarded box is of conventional design and is probably from a top West Country workshop. It has a front board carved with superb strapwork geometric and floral designs set against a background consisting of a matting of small punchwork. The strap hinges and hasp are original and it has superb untouched colour. It measures 25 inches wide x 17 1/2 inches deep x 10 inches high.
