A late 17th century walnut child's high chair. Although they must have been made in large numbers, this type of child's chair is quite delicate for its use and survivors are very rare. The crest and front stretcher are carved with the typical "boyes and crowne" design and the legs and stretchers have barley twist turnings. The back has a central caned panel with minor losses and the seat is also caned. It retains its footrest and stands 41 inches high. See Early British Chairs and Seats by Tobias Jellinek Plate 182 for a very similar example.
