With wonderful movement and shape, this supremely elegant chair is illustrated in the British Antique Furniture Price Guide 2001 edition page 124 where it was described as circa 1700 and estimated at £1200-£1600. In my view it is a bit late, probably about 1720 and sadly the value is considerably less! It has a lovely carved crest rail, a pierced splat, a drop in seat and cabriole front legs joined by H stretchers. It would make a lovely desk or hall chair and measures 38 1/2 inches high with a seat height of 18 inches. Ex Diana Steel Collection.
