Two very rare and beautifully made early English purses set in a glass case. The purse at the top is an Elizabethan example and is fashioned with blue silk tassels and border in imitation of feathers whilst the main body is made of stumpwork silver thread. The larger Stuart piece is made silk stumpwork and gold thread imitating flowers and foliage. It retains excellent colour. They are set in an antique ebonised case with a hinged glass door and it measures 14 inches x 9 inches x 2 inches deep.
