An early 17th century Montelupo syrup jar.

This fine syrup jar dates to about 1620 and is from Montelupo. It is decorated with the palmetta Persica (Persian palm) pattern which is an early form of decoration and has a cartouche reading "SY.DAGRO D CEDE" which translates as syrup of bitter lemons. It is in excellent condition and is 9.5 inches high.
