Standing on good high legs, this useful little late 17th century oak table has a drop leaf top comprising three one inch thick single plank boards with moulded edges and good rule joints. The legs have bobbin turnings and stand on their original toes and the gates and end stretchers are also bobbin turned. Excellent medium colour. Under the top are two small old labels with the initials M.E.W.W. - these refer to Marie Emily Williams Wynn daughter of Sir Henry Williams Wynn and who married her cousin Sir Watkin Williams Wynn of LLangedwyn Hall in 1852. The family's estates are in North Wales near Oswestry and it was not far from there that this table was acquired. It measures 24 inches x 29 inches across the top and the central bed is just 10 inches. It stands 28 inches high. Circa 1690.
