Worked in stumpwork and silkwork, this very charming picture depicts an elaborately dressed man presenting himself to a lady holding a harp accompanied by an attendant playing a mandolin. At the base are a lion and leopard on either side a pond with fish and at the top a wonderful depiction of the sun. Also shown are a castle with glazed windows and various creatures, insects and flora and fauna. The picture is surrounded by a wonderful silver thread needlework border and it measures 21 1/2 inches x 17 1/2 inches across the later giltwood frame.
