This lovely English blue dash delft charger depicting "The Temptation" was recently acquired from the collection of the late Anthony Thwaite and his wife Ann. They bought it in 1963 from Tristam Jellinek at Peel Antiques, Kensington Church Street and they paid £24 for it. The decoration, which is in blue, khaki green and dark manganese, is full of character. They showed it to John Malet of the Victoria and Albert Museum who described it as Lambeth circa 1680 although a similarly decorated dish is shown in "Delftware" by Michael Archer fig A34 where it is described as probably Brislington or Bristol c.1705-c.1720. 13 1/2 inches diameter.
