Probably dating to about 1625, this rare and elegant stool has a number of unusual features. The top is constructed from two boards and has triple mouldings to the long sides and chip carved ends. It has bicuspid rails and inverted baluster legs which terminate on their original toes and all four stretchers have extensive wear. The legs are unusually splayed both from the sides and ends which gives the stool greater stability and elegance. It has lovely untouched colour and patination. The top is 17 1/2inches x 10 inches and it is just over 20 inches high.
