A wonderful pair of deeply carved arcaded oak panels decorated in typical late Elizabethan taste with strapwork, scallop shells and winged angels to the top corners. Centrally are two heads with ruffs set between a pair of cornucopias. The heads probably represent a married couple and the cornucopias suggest fertility making it likely that these panels were part of the headboard of a tester bedhead. Lovely untouched dry patination. 13 1/2 inches x 10 inches.
