This very interesting pair of doors were probably originally part of a 15th century Italian, probably Tuscan, credenza They are softwood and each painted in polychrome and gilt with portraits of a couple set in roundels with green painted mouldings and turned knob handles (one is a later replacement).They are inscribed on the back "14th century" and a signature which is hard to decipher. They retain they retain their original wire hinges. 22 inches x 10 inches.
