Almost certainly from Nottinghamshire, this high back armchair is a typical example of the so-called "best" chairs that were produced by some of the top workshops. It is all in yew wood apart from the well figured elm seat and has a burr yew wood Christmas tree splat, notches under the ends of the arm hoop and a crinoline stretcher. excellent rich colour throughout and very comfortable. 43 1/2 inches high and the seat height is 17 1/2 inches.
