Possibly West Country, this lovely 15th century oak roof angel has many similarities to one that is shown on page 132 Fig. 2:163 in Victor Chinnery's "Oak Furniture. The British Tradition". The angel is shown wearing a cap under which flows long curling hair and he has feathered wings and holds a shield in his large hands whilst below are stylized clouds. It is in lovely dry condition and measures 11 1/2 inches x 10 inches.
