A superb early 17th century oak mural cupboard extensively decorated with parquetry inlay, split turnings and fine quality carving. It has a pair of doors each with five well patinated fruitwood turnings and a working lock and key above a small cupboard door. The carving suggests it is from Wiltshire/Gloucestershire/Somerset. A very similar cupboard was sold by Christies in 1987 as part of the Mary Bellis Collection when it was described as late 16th/early 17th century and estimated at £3500-4500. Circa 1620. 29 inches wide x 12 inches deep x 32 inches high.
