In lovely condition and retaining excellent colour, this stunning 17th century silkwork picture shows two figures, probably depicting Charles II and Catherine of Braganza moving toward each other in a landscape with castles shown on either side at the top. Between them is shown "the cherry eating bird" probably representing fecundity and on either side them are depicted flowers and there is a floral border inside an elaborate silver thread edge. On the back are a number of old labels suggesting that it depicts Charles I or Charles II and a small ancient price label reading £25-0-0. The needlework itself is 13 1/2 inches x 8 inches and it measures 15 inches x 10 inches across the frame.
