A 17th century oak farmhouse refectory table of unusual proportions being just under five feet long x just under three feet deep. The table probably dates to about 1675 and has a cleated end top comprising three 1 1/2 inches thick planks. One long rail is moulded and the other three are plain. The legs have column and baluster turnings and the box stretchers show considerable wear. It has lovely untouched colour and patination. The table measures 58 inches x 34 inches across the top x 29 1/2 inches high. Provenance : The Ormsby Gore family and probably at some point in their Shropshire house Brogyntyn Hall.
