This stunning early oak potboard dresser base is the best example that I have had for many years and probably hales from Merionethshire in North West Wales. About seven feet long, it has a a moulded edge boarded top over four shallow fielded panel drawers above a quadruple arcaded apron decorated with applied mouldings. It stands on four robust baluster and ring turned front legs terminating on their original toes and two rectangular section back legs. The sides are panelled with arcaded aprons. The colour and patination are outstanding and typical of the heavy oak from this area. Circa 1720, it measures 82 inches long x 22 inches deep x 34 1/2 inches high.
