Dating to about 1735, this elegant little chest of drawers has a moulded edge top made from a single plank of well figured oak and two short and three long drawers with cock beaded edges. Probably a London made piece, it is top quality in the manner of oak furniture made by firms such as Coxed and Woster. The oak is straight grained with medullary rays and it has lovely thin oak linings to the drawers. The original brass handles and escutcheons are beautifully engraved and it retains all its original working locks and a key. It measures just 29 1/2 inches wide x 18 inches deep x 32 inches high and would be perfect by a bed.
