A mid 17th century Sicilian "bombola" shaped apothecary jar decorated in very strong colours with the profile of a lady in typical Renaissance style wearing a blue dress. It is interesting the way that the high neck of the dress is repeated on the neck of the jar and the way that her body follows the contour of the shape of the jar. In addition to the figure there is also leaf design decoration on a blue background. On the base there is a collection mark 0549. The jar stands 10 1/2 inches high with a diameter of about 9 1/2 inches.
