This very beautiful and tactile 14th/15th century Welsh oak roof boss comes with an excellent provenance, having until recently been part of the private collection of the late Victor Chinnery, the author of the oak bible "Oak Furniture. The British Tradition" and his wife Jan. It has a deeply carved Celtic interlace design with wonderful untouched rich dark patination. It is believed to have found by Vic Chinnery in Wales and measures 8 1/2 inches x 7 1/2 inches x 2 1/2 inches deep.
