It is hard to know whether this is a stool or a table but it is certainly very unusual in its proportions. It dates to about 1620/30 and has a one inch thick two plank top pegged through to the frame and with moulded edges. It has unusually thick channel moulded bicuspid rails, ring turned columnar legs and moulded top stretchers which worn down nearly to the ground. The colour and patination are outstanding. It has come from a long standing private collection on the south coast. It measures 25 1/2 inches x 15 1/2 inches x just 14 1/2 inches high. It would make a wonderful low table in front of a settle or sofa.
