A PAIR OF CHARLES II UPHOLSTERED STOOLS.
Dating to about 1680, it is very rare for a single stool of this type to have survived in such an untouched condition, let alone pair. The S-scroll legs, cross stretchers and finials are in ebonised beech and retain their original toes. They are covered in distressed pale silk brocade that is probably 18th century. However under this one can see what appears to be the original green silk covering, canvas and horsehair. They are 14 inches in diameter and 16 1/2 inches high.
