Dating from the last decade of the 16th century, this oak and ash joint stool has great character and has certainly seen good use. The oak top has well worn double moulded edges and the bicuspid shaped rails have channel mouldings. The legs are in ash with excellent figuring and stop chamfered edges. The pegs used on the base, some of which are exposed under the top, are unusually small in size. It measures 18 inches x 11 inches across the top x 21 inches high.
