Circa 1780 and almost certainly from the workshop of Enoch Wood of Staffordshire, this stunning slipware dish has a dark brown ground with cream slip decoration depicting a bird with foliage. It is a heavy dish and has a pie crust edge. It is in superb untouched condition and has a diameter of 12 inches. A very similar example attributed to Enoch Wood is illustrated opposite the Foreword in the catalogue of The Synge-Craven Collection of Regional Slipware.
