This charming little early 18th century oak box may well have been made for a child. It is constructed from six very thin boards and it stands on a moulded edge base with attractively shaped bracket feet. The coffret has superb original metalwork including the lockplate and hasp and the hinges both of the main box and the tiny lidded till. It has lovely rich colour and dates to about 1715. 18 1/2 inches wide x 9 inches deep x 9 inches high.
