A Charles II oak armchair with superb quality carving. The fretted crest rail with dragons, grapes and floral designs and the back panel with a central fan-shaped flower head and other floral designs - see Chinnery page 441. These designs are usually ascribed to Lancashire/Cheshire but similar caring has also been found in Yorkshire and Derbyshire - see RFS 2019 Journal page 115 for a cupboard in a church in Manchester with similar dragons. The overall height is 41 inches and the seat is 24 inches wide x 16 inches deep x 18 1/2 inches high. Wonderful colour and patination. Circa 1680. The chair would work well with the similar chair stock no.10221.
