This lovely stool is illustrated in Tobias Jellinek's book "Early British Chairs and Seats" Plate 312 and was sold by Sotheby's as part of The Clive Sherwood Collection in 2002, lot number 106 when it fetched £3525. The rails have deeply carved overlapping semicircles which create a series of Gothic arches. It has slender columnar legs terminating on the their original toes. 18 inches x 10 1/2 inches across the top x 22 inches high.
