Dating from about 1770, this generously proportioned armchair has many of the features associated with the Thames Valley Windsor chair makers, John Pitt and Richard Hewitt. It has a yoke shaped crest rail, a vasiform splat, a very broad seat and four cabriole legs, the rear legs with an accentuated rake. It is constructed in fruitwood, ash and elm. 41 1/2 inches high and the seat is 17 inches high and 24 inches wide.
